Dauphin Island is located on the Gulf coast of Alabama and is a great way to escape the crowds of Gulf Shores and Orange beach. Although it is quiet and peaceful there is plenty to do. You can go fishing, whether it be inshore or offshore, you can enjoy the wildlife of the Mobile Bay area, you can visit the historic Fort Gaines, you can eat fresh seafood, and you can do much more. First though, you must have a place to stay for your visit.
Lodging
Dauphin Island offers several lodging options and has plenty of room for anybody, whether it be honeymooners or a vacationing family. The largest two hotels or resorts, are arguably either the Holiday Isles or the Inn at Dauphin Island. The two buildings stand side by side and sit on the beach with a stunning view. These two hotels are near the public beach however, which is an area that can get a little crowded in peak summer months. Another option you have is to rent a beach house through one of the two rental agencies on the island, Boardwalk Realty and Dauphin Island Real Estate. Although it is a wonderful way to experience any beach vacation, renting a beach house can be on the expensive side especially in peak seasons. For those who want to enjoy the quieter side of the island there is a bed and breakfast on the bayside of the island, Dauphin House Bed and Breakfast. For those who travel by RV there is an RV park near the public beach, the Pelican Nest RV Resort.
