Lisbon isn’t just a city on a river, and the Tagus (Tejo in Portuguese) isn’t just any river. As it flows into the Atlantic just west of the city it is two miles wide, but only a couple of miles inland in widens into a 7-mile-wide bay. It is possibly Europe’s best harbor, and certainly one of the most scenic to sail into.
Cruise Port in the Heart of the City
Giant cruise ships dock right in the heart of the city, after a dramatic entrance that includes close-in views of some of Lisbon’s finest monuments in Belem, and a vibrant waterfront backed by a Medieval quarter that rises steeply to a Moorish castle. Stepping ashore, passengers could easily spend an entire day seeing and savoring those attractions that line the shore.
