Wilmington is located on the North Carolina coast at the opening of the Cape Fear river. It features a beautiful historic downtown district and is also large enough to warrant its own minor league baseball team, the Wilmington Sharks. Wilmington also plays host to one of the CW's most popular shows in One Tree Hill. Back when the CW was the WB, the city doubled as Dawson's Creek for some of us slightly older fans of teen angst driven dramas.

My wife and I decided to spend Christmas of 2009 in Wilmington. While this may not be practical for many people, I suggest visiting during the holiday season because of how beautiful the area is with lights decked out everywhere. The River Walk which has been host to so many moments from both shows is picturesque and breathtaking at times. I could literally stand and stare out over the Cape Fear river watching boats go by all day long and be content.
